Frothy Beard Strawberry Blonde

This was the beer Val wanted to get us through trivia. Let’s see how it was.

ABV: 5.3%

Style: Fruit/Vegetable Beer

Trivia: According to the brewery website, “Let’s start from the beginning. Frothy Beard Brewing Company grew out of a passion for creativity, culinary arts, zombies, epic novels, board games, the outdoors, and beer. Mostly beer. Michael Biondi, Steve McCauley, and Joey Siconolfi have been friends for more than ten years, brewers for six, and officially opened Frothy in 2013. The beer and the brewery have both gained a lot of press and a lot of fans. In 2017, Frothy Beard Brewing Company got a major upgrade and relocated to West Ashley on Sam Rittenberg Blvd. Their state of the art taproom and facility has allowed them to increase their brewing capacity by more than 400% and they even canned a Frothy favorite, ¡Andale!, for the very first time.”

Random: The brewery had posters of a bunch of their beers up and I loved their art. It was so well done.

The beer poured with a large, three finger, pure white head. It dissipated quicker than expected and it left a lot of lacing on the glass. The body was cloudy and bright yellow with light carbonation visible. The nose was filled with strawberry extract and strawberry soda. There was a wheat note as well. I was hoping that the taste would be better, but I was sadly disappointed. The strawberry was still incredibly artificial. There was wheat present, but that was about it. The body was on the light side with moderate carbonation. It had a quick finish with strawberry syrup. This was not a great beer and I wouldn’t rush to have it again.

Frothy Beard Sip Sip Pass IPA

Val and I really like trivia. We found another brewery that offered trivia while we were in South Carolina. This brewery was in a strip mall, but had a lot of interesting offerings, along with homemade pizza. We decided to participate in trivia and have some pizza. I really liked this branding of this brewery. It was simple, but had a lot of character as well. This was the first beer that I had there.

ABV: 6.2%

Style: American IPA

Trivia: According to the brewery website, “Collaboration with Craft Conundrum for their anniversary, this Dank IPA has tons of hop aroma and flavor. Share it with your friends.”

Random: This beer comes in at 120 IBUs.

The beer poured with a small, half finger, pure white head. It dissipated quickly, but left a lot of lacing on the glass. There was also a small crown left on top. The body was a cloudy bright yellow color with no carbonation visible due to the haziness. The nose started with a lot of tropical fruit. Specifically, I picked up pineapple and mango. There was some malt behind it as well. The taste was loud. It had tropical fruit that was pleasantly aggressive. I picked up mango, pineapple and some grapefruit as well. The malt presence was muted, compared to the nose. The body was medium thick and had just enough carbonation. The finish was lengthy with tropical fruit. This was a really nice beer. In a market that is completely saturated with IPAs, I really liked this one.
