This is another beer that I know absolutely nothing about. New Jersey doesn’t see distribution from this brewery and Val picked it up for me when she was out of town. I had no idea what to expect, so let’s see if I was in for a pleasant surprise or a letdown.

hiredhand

ABV: 6.5%

Style: Saison/Farmhouse Ale

Trivia: According to the brewery website, “Traditionally, this Belgian style farmhouse ale was brewed in the winter to be enjoyed in the summer. Well, us revolutionaries pay little heed to such silly traditions. We brew our Saison year round because, frankly, we don’t want to wait so long for such a delicious beer. Hired Hand perfectly blends malty and sour notes, with a refreshing dry finish. Enjoyed by laborers and leaders alike.”

Random: This comes in at 18 IBUs.

The beer poured with a three finger, thin, off white head. It took awhile to go away and left a generous amount of lacing on the glass. The body was a hazy orange with a lot of carbonation visible. The nose had orange segments, yeast and coriander with dry grape note. The taste started with some citrus sweetness and then went into yeast with coriander. Wildflower honey came through at the end of the sip. The beer was quite dry and there wasn’t any booze warming. It had a quick finish with yeast and orange. I put this saison down without any issues. It was really easy to drink and had a lot of good flavor. I would get this one again if I ever go to a place that distributes them
