Jersey Girl is another New Jersey brewery that popped up. I haven’t gotten a chance to go out there yet since it’s so far north, but hopefully I’ll get there soon.
Style: American IPA
Trivia: According to the brewery website, “This hazy, oated IPA is a silky citrus bomb. Hopped with loads of Citra and complimented with a soft piney touch of Centennial. A sweet orange nose, paired with citrus and tropical flavors together with a warming finish create a highly drinkable beer!”
Random: This brewery is based in Mount Olive, New Jersey.
The beer poured with a finger of loose, ecru colored head. It dissipated slowly and left some lacing on the glass. The body was slightly hazy and tan in color. There was slight carbonation visible as well. The nose was all citra and hop pellets. There was lots of old grass and old citrus peel. The taste had more malt than the nose did. It started with caramel and toasted malt and then went into old grass. It had some old pine needles as well. It had some earth notes as well. The body was light and the carbonation needed to be increased. The finish was lengthy with dirt and old grass. A pounder can of this was $3.50, which broke down to $.22 per ounce. This was a decent first attempt, but it tasted like a home brew. I wouldn’t get this one again. It missed the mark for me as a New England style IPA.
