Possman Pure Cider Rose

When Val and I went to Half Time, I ran in first and told her to meet me in a section. Wires got crossed and she started her shopping without me on the cider side of the store. She already had a bomber and a full six-pack in the cart. One of the first bottles that I saw in the pack, given its color. She had this one last night and let me sample it.

ABV: 5%

Style: Cider

Trivia: According to the brewery website, “The uncompromisingly perfect hard apple cider from Kelterei Possmann Frankfurt Germany. Created with 100% pleasure, 0% compromise, Possmann Pure Cider has a perfect balance of rich apple flavor mixed with black currant for a taste that’s not too sweet and finishes dry. 5.0% alcohol by volume.”

Random: I hadn’t heard anything about this company until I saw it at Half Time.

This cider poured with no head on top of a clear, pink body. There was no carbonation visible. The nose reminded me almost exactly of Arbor Mist. There was a lot of pink fruit and sweet berries. I didn’t pick up any apples. The taste was absolutely awful. It was like drinking sickeningly sweet Franzia. There was a lot of black currant in there, but a lot of sweetness and then absolutely no carbonation. The body was on the thicker side, which made it much worse. The finish was thankfully short with sweetness and berries. For $2.99 a bottle, this broke down to $.25 per ounce. This could be one on the worst ciders that I’ve ever had. I won’t be having this again.
