The other half and I are headed to Philly tomorrow for a concert. It’s the first time that we’ve been out to do something fun (that is not related to fixing the house) since we’ve moved in. We both completely forgot about the concert until this week, so it’s good that I have Monday off because I have to take my car for an oil change. I think we’re going to go to dinner in Philly before the concert, so that should be fun. Anyways, onto the beer.
Style: Milk/Sweet Stout
Trivia: According to the brewery website, “A rich, black milk stout that is brewed with roasted barley, flaked oats and milk sugar. We then blend fresh-brewed premium coffee into the brew, producing a delicious balance of silky sweetness with roasted coffee undertones.”
Random: It’s supposed to be a beautiful day tomorrow, which makes going into the city even better.
This beer poured with a huge, three finger tan head that dissipated quickly and left some lacing on the glass. The body was a dark brown with moderate carbonation visible. The nose had lots of coffee and roasted malt without much else. The taste had a lot of lactose to it and then some black coffee, but no real sweetness to it. It also had roasted malts, but it was relatively mild. The body was very thin with moderate carbonation. It had a quick finish with coffee grounds and roasted malts. The beer was $2.39 for the bottle, which broke down to $.20 per ounce, which isn’t all that expensive, but for a beer that just didn’t do anything for me, this is a definite pass.
