Melvin 2×4 DIPA

Val and I went to Tired Hands awhile back to have dinner with one of her friends. After dinner, we stopped at a bottle shop down the street, so I could pick up some beers that I can’t get in New Jersey.

ABV: 9.9%

Style: American Double/Imperial IPA

Trivia: According to the brewery website, “Dear (insert your name here), This is the best damn DIPA in the world. So if you were even considering sulking today, think again. Our 2×4 Double IPA is the Gold Winner of numerous note-worthy awards, including the Alpha King Championship; two years in a row and counting. You’d be crazy not to drink this. So close your eyes, open up, and experience the mad floral, citrusy, and clean taste of hop talent. If you don’t love it, no…you will.”

Random: This brewery is out of Wyoming.

This beer poured with a two finger, white head. It dissipated quickly and left little lacing on the glass. The body was golden yellow in color and slightly cloudy. There was a decent amount of carbonation visible. The nose started with pine needles and resin and quickly went into grapefruit. I picked up a slight floral note as well. The taste was also pine dominant. It had pine needles, resin and cleaner. It then went into grapefruit and then the malt came through as well, which balanced the beer out. The alcohol was apparent and gave the beer a slight burn. The body was on the heavier side with generous carbonation. It had a lengthy and sticky finish with pine. I picked the can up for $3.99, which broke down to $.33 per ounce. I enjoyed the beer, it was just a little too booze for me.
