Sometimes I purchase beers just because I’ve never heard of the brewery and want to give them a shot. This was in a cooler at the beer store by our hotel, so I decided to try it.
Style: American Double/Imperial IPA
Trivia: According to the brewery website, “Double dry-hopped with 6 lbs per barrel of Galaxy & Mosaic hops, this is our hoppiest IPA ever. It’s a juicy, hazy, dank double IPA with notes of passion fruit, mango, pineapple, starfruit, papaya, and tangerine.”
Random: This brewery also makes a strawberry IPA that I wish I could have tried.
The beer poured with a large, three finger, off white head. It dissipated slowly and left a lot of lacing on the glass. It also left a small crown. The body was hazy and bright yellow in color. There was no carbonation visible. The nose was a true juice bomb. I picked up grapefruit, passion fruit, pineapple and mango. There was some tangelo thrown in there as well. The taste was more of the same. The sip started with pineapple and mango and then went into tangerine, apricot and passionfruit. It had a touch of pine. I picked up very little malt as well. The body was thick and sticky with generous carbonation. It had a lengthy finish as well with pineapple and mango. I picked this beer up at a liquor store in P-Town, so I don’t recall how much it was. Either way, this was an outstanding beer that I would definitely have again.
