I picked this beer up at The Bruery Store in DC. They were doing an event where they feature different breweries. I decided not to do the Bruery Society this year, so I was glad to pick this up during my last pickup.
Style: New England IPA
Trivia: According to the brewery website, “We like hops here at Pinthouse Pizza… some may say we are a bit obsessed with them, but we also like balance and drinkability and, we work tirelessly to create innovative beers of all styles that showcase the highest quality ingredients that we source for them. Whether it is our award-winning Fully Adrift Double IPA (2018 Alpha King Winner, 2014 Alpha King Runner Up and 2015 L.A. International Beer Competition Silver Medal), Nomura DIPA (2017 Alpha King 3rd place), Green Battles IPA (2018 GABF Gold Medal and 2018 World Beer Cup Gold Medal), our Electric Jellyfish IPA voted Austin’s Best Overall Beer in 2016, 2017 & 2018, our delectably bold Bearded Seal Dry Irish Stout (2017 GABF Gold Medal), elusive Jaguar Shark Barrel Aged Stout (2015 L.A. Random: This beer uses Citra, Simcoe, Chinook, Ekuanot, Azacca, and Galaxy hops.
The beer poured with a finger of pure white head that was thick. It took a minute or two to dissipate, but left very little lacing on the glass. The body was a dirty dark yellow color that was cloudy with no carbonation visible. The nose had a lot of notes of fresh cut grass, but quickly went into mango and tangerine. The taste started with citrus, specifically tangerine and grapefruit. There was some mango and then it went into grassy and dank territory. The body was on the medium side with just enough carbonation. It had a lengthy finish with grass and tropical fruit. This beer was perfection in a glass. The fruit notes countered the dankness perfectly. I highly recommend this one.
