This was the second beer that I had at Bru. I was still looking for a lighter ABV beer that packed some flavor and would pair well with the German fare. Their beer list was extensive and it was difficult picking out a beer. So, I went for this one which they offered on draft which Val was surprised that I never had before.

staropramen

ABV: 5%

Style: Czech Pilsner

Trivia: According to the brewery website, “In every glass of Staropramen lies the free spirit of Prague. The pleasantly smooth taste and well-rounded flavour rewards your palate with a soft malty flavour, before finishing off with gentle bitterness. Staropramen lager, a genuine legend of Prague.”

Random: I walked 4 miles at load out today. My legs are going to hurt later tonight.

This brew poured with a one finger, white head that was thick and dissipated slowly. It left a lot of lacing on the glass. The body was a clear, amber color with a lot of carbonation visible. The nose was very grainy with some sweetness at the end of the sniff. The taste was sweeter than I am used to for the style. It had some caramel sweetness and then a touch of bitter hops at the end of the sip. It had a thick body for the style with high carbonation. The finish was lengthy with grains and some sweetness. This wasn’t a bad beer by any means, although not one of my favorite styles. It washed down the remainder of the sausage very nicely.
