Tonight’s beer is one that hails from Connecticut and my first offering from the brewery. It’s located in Branford, Connecticut, right on the river. The photos of the taproom look really nice, so I’ll have to make a trip out there soon.
Style: American IPA
Trivia: According to the brewery website, “Aggressive, yet crafted to go down easy, this Session IPA has it all. Lemon Drop and Bravo hops lend a fruity hop complexity with Lemon and Orange Highlights. At 4.5% ABV and 50 IBUs this beer is just a little bit cranky.”
Random: This beer comes in at 50 IBUs.
The beer poured with a one finger, white head. It dissipated quickly, but left some lacing on the glass. The body had a slight haze to it and was bright orange. The nose was light, even for a session IPA. I picked up some grass and malt and a touch of floral hops. The taste had a little bit more depth than the nose. I picked up some citrus notes of lemon peel and grapefruit along with the same floral notes that were in the nose. There was a touch of dish soap as well. The body was on the lighter side with moderate carbonation and could have used a bit more. It had a quick and soapy finish. A can was $1.67, which broke down to $.14 per ounce. I just wasn’t a fan of this beer. I wanted more hops and depth and didn’t get it. I won’t be having this one again.
