One of the things that shocked me about Ohio was their pizza. I didn’t expect their pizza to be great, but at work, we ordered a Hawaiian pizza. When it came, I wondered what smelled like dessert. It was the pizza. It had almonds and cinnamon on it. This was unlike any pizza that I ever had, although I can’t say that I disliked it.

ABV: 7.3%

Style: American IPA

Trivia: It seems to be a growing trend with Ohio breweries not having information about beers listed. This brewery has a bunch of other beers listed with descriptions, but not this one. Given the popularity of IPAs, I assume this would be the first one that they would put up.

Random: Whenever I blog for long periods of time, my big cat tries to climb on my laptop.

The beer poured with a one finger, cream-colored head. It went away quickly, but still left some lacing on the glass. The body was a clear, amber color with moderate carbonation. The nose was more lemony than any other IPA I can remember reviewing. It had grass and lemon pith and then crackery malt. The taste was much of the same. It had lemon juice, lemon pith and fresh cut grass. I was happy that it didn’t go into the realm of lemon cleaner. The body was light for the ABV and very easy drinking. The finish was quick with lemon verbena and grass. I enjoyed this IPA. The flavors were more like a pale ale, but I would have no problem having this one again while watching a game.

I was looking for a beer that was sessionable while hanging out at the bar. This beer looked like the perfect selection for me before I headed over to dinner. Since I was working so early, I ended up going to dinner at 4:30 or 5 PM most days. The good thing about that was that the restaurants were rarely crowded at that time.

ABV: 3.2%

Style: Light Lager

Trivia: According to the brewery website, “This dazzling light lager has a dual nature: a wave of golden flavor entangled with a quantum of noble hops. A challenge to brew, but a cinch to drink, this beer moves at precisely the speed of itself.”

Random: This beer is only 96 calories. I bet it competes well with macros.

This beer poured with a half a finger of white head that dissipated quickly. The body was a clear, straw yellow with generous carbonation. The nose was light with grain and a corn-like sweetness. I kept searching for more notes in the scent, but I couldn’t pick anything up. The taste was also light and crisp with some corn and grain sweetness. It had a touch of grass and then went into bready sweetness as well. The body was very light with a lot of carbonation. The finish was quick and sweet. This beer was very light and made for a great session beer. It didn’t bring a huge amount of flavor, but I wasn’t expecting that much from it. If you find yourself in Ohio, give this a shot.
