I cracked open this beer and on first sip (spoiler alert), I wasn’t into it at all. What was interesting was the fact that my other half really, really liked it. To the point that she actually took the glass from me. We have really different tastes in beer and if she likes a beer, obviously, I will surrender the glass to her. But, check out my write up to see my detailed thoughts.
Style: American Amber/Red Ale
Trivia: According to the brewery website, “HINTS OF MEXICAN AGAVE CAPTURE THE SUBTLE, SMOOTH AND EARTHY TASTE OF PELIGROSO® – PERFECTLY BALANCED WITH TOASTED MALT AND SUBTLE HOPS IN THIS CRISP AMBER ALE.”
Random: This reminds me of a crafty beer. Perhaps a take on Tequiza?
This beer poured with a two finger, slightly off white head that dissipated quickly. There was no lacing left on the glass, but a slight crown on top. The body was a clear amber color with light carbonation visible. The nose had malt and corn. There wasn’t any agave to speak of in the nose. The taste had some caramel malt to it and nothing else. There definitely wasn’t any agave or any tequila. The body was on the thicker side with light carbonation. It had a quick finish with caramel malt. The brew was $2.15 for the bottle ($.18 per ounce). The price was affordable, but still not a good beer. This beer was reminiscent of a macro in a weird way. I would not have this again.
