This beer was one that I found on the counter at Trenton Road Take Out. I heard about the brewery on the podcast called “Good Beer Hunting.” If you haven’t listened to it, it’s a quality podcast and incredibly informative. They did a whole podcast about this brewery and I’m shocked that it saw Pennsylvania distribution.
Style: American Wild Ale
Trivia: According to the brewery website, “I started working on Une Année while working as an Architect in Fall of 2010, but started my homebrewing passion back in 1995 while in the Marines stationed in California. In preparation for starting the brewery I attended the Siebel Institute. I am a Chicago native and live in Chicago with my wonderful supportive wife Tonia, and adorable daughter / assistant brewer Maya.”
Random: I need to go back to Chicago. The food there is amazing.
The beer poured with a one finger, slightly pink tinged head. It dissipated by the time I took a picture. The body was a cloudy, pinkish-orange color with moderate carbonation visible. The nose had a significant funky note with raspberries and white sugar. The taste had significant tartness with white vinegar. The raspberry note was present, although not as prevalent as the tartness. It had some dry alcohol as well with funk. The body was crisp and on the lighter side with moderate carbonation. It had a lengthy, tart finish with raspberry and white vinegar. I enjoyed this beer a lot. The tartness and funk were complemented by the raspberry note. I’d buy another bottle of this one in a minute.
