Taj Mahal Premium Lager

Finally, the Phils are playing like the team they are. Simple things like this make me happy. I almost feel bad for Boston fans right now…haven’t won any games yet and the Indians swept them. I mean, a three game series with a stacked line up and you lose to Cleveland??? Come on…anyways, I keep looking as baseball scores because I’m almost putting off trying this beer. As I’ve mentioned before, my Dad always picks me up beer whenever he sees interesting labels. He also knows nothing about beer. Needless to say, this was one of his choices. I really don’t like American Adjunct Lagers and this is a 22 ounce. This is going to be fun…or a drain pour.

ABV: 4.5%

Style: American Adjunct Lager

Trivia: According to wikipedia, “United Breweries Group or UB Group, based in Bangalore, is a conglomerate of different companies with a major focus on the brewery (beer) and alcoholic beverages industry. The company markets beer under the Kingfisher brand and has also launched Kingfisher Airlines, an airline service in India, with international flights operating recently. United Breweries is India’s largest producer of beer with a market share of around 48% by volume. It’s owned by Vijay Mallya who is also a member of the Indian Parliament. United Breweries now has greater than a 40% share of the Indian brewing market with 79 distilleries and bottling units across the world. Recently UB financed a takeover of the spirits business of the rival Shaw-Wallace company giving it a majority share of India’s spirits business. The group owns the Mendocino Brewing Company in the United States.”

Random: I wonder if this beer is going to be worse than Red Stripe

I poured this beer really aggressively to try to get a head. Although it was present for the picture, by the time I got this to the table it was gone. This brew was really light. Almost like beer water. But, there was lots of carbonation on the brew. This actually looks worse than a normal macro. I think I’m in for a treat (please, note the sarcasm). On the nose, there wasn’t much. I got a hint of grass and metal, although I think I’m fishing. On the taste, I’m surprised at how bad this is. To me, this is like the Pinot Grigio of beers, it’s like the hops were dipped in and out really quick and what was left was an imitation beer flavor. I would prefer a macro over this. I read some other reviews and they said that it tasted like vegetable oil and that’s exactly the horrid taste that I can’t place. I’m trying so hard not to use profanity in this post, but this beer is horrible. The finish is quick (the only saving grace) and unremarkable. This is definitely a drain pour. Avoid…grab a Bud Light over this swill.
