I saw this bottle on the shelf of Spirits Unlimited in Shrewsbury. I’ve never seen this one before and the label was pretty interesting. I’ve also never had a kombucha beer, so I was really interested in what the flavors would be.

ABV: 8.1%

Style: American Wild Ale

Trivia: According to the brewery website, “Our Kombucha Beer is something we never imagined we would be making – a wonderful evolution of our traditional Kombucha. ‘Triple Goddess’ is a marriage of our 30-day brewed Kombucha, organic dried hops and either organic raw ginger root or organic fresh Raspberries aged and open-air-fermented in oak barrels and then bottle conditioned. The combination creates exquisite flavors that have depth and complexity. Like our organic Kombucha, it is raw, all organic, gluten free, vegan and bottle conditioned and lends itself to healthy and beneficial bacteria.”

Random: Kate does not have a favorite color. I find this odd.

This poured with no head on a hazy pink body with light visible carbonation, but had lots of bubbles adhere to the glass. The nose was a huge amount of raspberry tartness. I could smell the raspberry tartness as I cracked the bottle open. There wasn’t much else to the nose. The taste started with raspberry and then had this tea flavor and a bit of tartness. I didn’t like the flavor at all on first glance, but it grew on me a little bit. The body was medium thickness with light carbonation. It could have used a bit more carbonation. The finish was long as anything with tartness and tea. The booze was invisible on this brew. The beer was interesting, but one glass was definitely enough.
