This beer was another one that came highly recommended by the bartender. I have a soft spot for any coffee flavored cream ale. I wish that there would be more of them on shelves. I also liked that this beer was sessionable, which was good given that the bar was about 10 minutes from my hotel. I moved from the Holiday Inn to the Drury Inn, which is a Midwestern hotel chain. It was so much better than the Holiday Inn. They had a free breakfast along with a free happy hour with snacks. If you need to stay at a hotel in the Midwest, I would highly recommend it.

Trivia: This beer has won Second Place Best in Show: 2016 Indiana Brewers’ Cup, Gold: 2016 Indiana Brewers’ Cup and Gold: 2016 Alltech Commonwealth Cup.

Random: Yet another beer that somehow the photo got deleted. I guess this is what happens when you have a giant backlog.

The beer poured with a quarter of a finger of white head that dissipated instantly and left no lacing on the glass. The body was a clear, straw yellow color with light carbonation. The nose was filled with coffee and roastiness. The taste was super smooth with cream and a lot of coffee and some vanilla. The body was light with low carbonation. It had a lengthy finish with coffee and cream. This beer was liquid perfection. It had perfect coffee flavor and was really light. I wish I could get this beer in New Jersey. I would have a permanent place in the fridge for this.

This beer came highly recommended from the bartender at Hop Yard 62. I was curious to see if it would compare to one of my favorite cream ales, Carton Regular Coffee. One of the major differences between the two beers is obviously the ABV. Let’s see how it stands up.

Random: I wanted to visit this brewery during my time in Columbus, but couldn’t get out there.

This beer poured with a quarter finger of pure white head that dissipated almost instantly. It left no lacing on the glass. The body was clear and straw yellow with a lot of carbonation visible. The nose was filled with sweet honey, cinnamon and vanilla. After a few sniffs, I also picked up some graham crackers. The taste had notes of cinnamon powder doughnuts, vanilla, honey and powdered sugar with some coffee. Despite all of these flavors, they all worked well together. The body was light with a lot of carbonation. It had a lengthy finish with vanilla and cinnamon doughnuts. This beer was amazing and really reminded me of Cinnamon Toast Crunch. If you can get your hands on this, do so immediately.
