Sorachi, our youngest cat, has had a real growth spurt lately. He is by far, the tallest cat now, although he doesn’t weigh the most. We don’t think he’s gotten adjusted to his new size because he’s a bit clumsy. It’s really cute. His paws are gigantic, so we’re not sure if he’s done growing. He’s definitely a big boy. Anyways, let’s get to the beer.
Style: American Pale Ale
Trivia: According to the brewery website, “Named for the translation of the hop plant species ‘Humulus Lupulus’ which got its name because it was small but feisty. We think this beer fits that description pretty well. This Pale Ale was brewed with barley, oats, and a fine blend of hops featuring Horizon, Citra and Mosaic.”
Random: This beer comes in at 40 IBUs.
The beer poured with a one finger, pure white head. It dissipated quickly and left very little lacing on the glass. The body was a bright yellow color and cloudy with very little carbonation visible. The nose started with pine needles and some tropical fruit, specifically mango. There was a sweet note as well with some caramel. The taste was sweeter than I expected with caramel, but had some pine as well. There was mint too, but no tropical fruit. The body was on the lighter side with a lot of carbonation. It had a quick finish with caramel and toffee. I thought this beer was alright, but nothing amazing. I wouldn’t rush back to have this again.
