Magic Hat Deveiled

I’m starting to dread football Sundays. My team is absolutely awful. Today, they lost to the Giants. If you don’t follow football, the Giants are even worse than the Eagles this year. My girlfriend (who hates football, by way), calls it “sportsball.” She’s very tolerant when it comes to me watching the game, but I can’t even watch this year. Anyways, I had this beer a while ago. My parents picked up a mixed twelve with this one in it.

ABV: 5.2%

Style: American Amber/Red Ale

Trivia: According to the brewery website, “A thin veil rests between two worlds, shrouding one’s view from the other. Lives of the present and those long gone may cross the boundary if they wish, but they must first awaken to the possibility. Once eyes have opened, a harmonious convergence of life and death can be seen, the oneness deveiled, shifting into sight.”

Random: I forgot how much I enjoy “Third Watch.” I used to watch the show years ago when it was on the air, but I’m really enjoying it on Netflix.

This brew poured with half a finger of white head that dissipated quickly with no lacing left on the glass. The body was a clear, deep chestnut color with light carbonation. The nose was very nutty and followed with a touch of hops. The taste was hoppy up front with nuttiness coming afterwards. The one thing that stuck out to me was that this was more nutty than the typical amber. It also had a hint of a medicinal flavor that I couldn’t place. The body was thick with light carbonation. The finish was long and nutty. Nothing about this beer stood out. I’m generally not a fan of the style and this just didn’t do it for me. Pass.
