Liquid Hero Schweet Ale

Tonight’s selection is a beer that I picked out for Val since it was a fruit beer. I’ve never heard of the brewery and haven’t even read a single review of the beer. Let’s see how it was.

schweetale

ABV: 5.2%

Style: Fruit/Vegetable Beer

Trivia: According to the brewery website, “A simple, yet flavorful strawberry wheat which we like to think of as our gateway brew to the wonderful world of craft beers. The strawberry aroma is quite prevalent, but the strawberry flavor is more subtle. We use an all natural strawberry fruit flavor blend to give it just enough flavor without being too sweet. Try mixing this with our HeroWeizen for a nice flavorful wheat beer!”

Random: Strawberry beers seem to be very difficult to execute.

This beer poured with a half a finger of white head that dissipated instantly and left no lacing on the glass. There was about a quarter of a finger of white head left as a crown on top of the body. The body was slightly hazy and bright orange with light carbonation visible. The nose had strawberry extract, sweet strawberry soda and wheat. The taste was incredibly artificial with lots of strawberry extract and sugary strawberry candy. I kept trying to find other flavors, but the artificial strawberry flavor overwhelmed everything. It had a thin body with light carbonation. The finish was quick with the artificial flavor. A can of this was $1.62, which came to $.14 per ounce. This beer was not great and used way too much strawberry extract. I wouldn’t have it again.
