Wiseacre Adjective Animal

One of the nicknames I had as a child was “wiseacre.” I had a smart mouth and paid for it every now and then. Let’s see if this beer hits home for me.

adjectiveanimal

ABV: 8.6%

Style: American Double/Imperial IPA

Trivia: According to the brewery website, “This beer is going to change your life. Adjective Animal is dry hopped twice, in two different vessels, along with a great wasteful pile of hops in the kettle, and another huge tongue beating heap of hops in the whirlpool. This is as hop forward as it gets. Orange, tangerine, papaya, pine, grapefruit, and mango shall waft forth. Very tropical. Nugzilla, Citra, Falconers Flight, and Centennial hops perfection. Grumpy Giraffe, Funny Ferret, Sophisticated Owl, Ostentatious Ocelot, Cantankerous Coatimundi…you know the drill.”

Random: Despite the can being pink, it’s pretty cool.

The brew poured with a half a finger of white head that dissipated slowly. It left spiderweb lacing on the glass. The body was a hazy and dark orange with a lot of floaties. Despite all the detritus, I saw a lot of carbonation as well. The nose was simple with pine sap that was quickly followed up with sweet malt. It also had a decent amount of alcohol on it. The taste was incredibly sweet and after the sweetness left, I got a lot of alcohol. After that went away, I got pine needles along with old lemon pledge. The body was medium thick with moderate carbonation. It had a lengthy, caramel malt finish. I picked up this can for $2.74 ($.23 per ounce). I know they said that this beer should be tropical and citrusy and life changing, but it didn’t hit any of those marks for me. I wouldn’t have this again.
