I heard about this brewery on one of the beer podcasts that I listen to regularly. I saw this on the shelf at one of my local beer stores and hadn’t had a pilsner in awhile. I’m always curious when I see a newer brewery put out a pilsner, so I picked it up.
ABV: 5.5%
Style: German Pilsener
Trivia: According to the brewery website, “Interboro Spirits and Ales is Brooklyn’s only craft brewery and distillery. Our goal is to engage, inspire, and bring people together with our distinctive, flavor-forward beers and spirits! From session beers to barrel-strength whiskeys, we’ll show what can be done with three basic ingredients: grain, yeast and water.”

The beer poured with a two finger, wispy, pure white head. It dissipated quickly and left a lot of lacing on the glass. The body was straw yellow with a lot of visible carbonation. The nose had some milled grain along with grass. The taste started with corn and then quickly went into mineral water and grass. It also had a lemon note that provided some light bitterness. It had some malt at the end that provided a touch of sweetness. The body was light with a lot of carbonation. It had a quick and clean finish with mineral water. A pounder can of this was $4.25, which came to $.27 per ounce. I thought this was a decent pilsner, but probably wouldn’t have it again due to the price. There are better and cheaper options out there.
